I am currently a Distinguished Professor in the
Department of Mathematics at
National Taiwan Normal University,
where I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in 1990 and 1993, respectively. In the fall of 1997, I entered the
Department of Mathematics at UCLA
to pursue my Ph.D. studies. After one year, I transferred to the
Department of Mathematics at
University of Washington
in the fall of 1998, where I spent six years studying optimization under the supervision of
Prof. Paul Tseng.
My research focuses primarily on continuous optimization, with additional interests in nonsmooth analysis and
